Unity Engineer

We’re seeking a Unity Developer to join our team in Oslo or remotely. 

Full-time · Oslo / Remote (CET +/- 2 hours)

About the role

You'll have the unique chance to help build next-gen design tools for AR/XR experiences.

As one of the first engineers on the team, you’ll have the opportunity make a big impact on the product, shape the vision with the team and influence how AR/XR experiences will be composed and curated in the future.

About Appear 

Appear is on a mission to fix the broken product design process for rich extended reality (XR) experiences. We’re starting an ambitious journey to create next-generation tools to design immersive experiences for XR.

Our vision is to the free the curiosity of designers from limitations of other platforms and static 2D frames and ultimately enable a design process that produces high quality and engaging XR experiences.

Appear is the first tool that focuses on the needs of XR-designers when composing advanced experiences and products for augmented and mixed reality. Our unique system enables the creation of rich and playful experiences that truly interact with the surrounding environment —we’re defining how we’ll interact with and within the spatial experiences.

What we're looking for

  • 4 years of experience with Unity (games/apps/simulations)
  • Strong understanding of C#
  • Familiarity with releasing for mobile and desktop
  • Experience working UX and interaction designers

Nice to have

  • Knowledge in architecture and design principles is a plus
  • Familiarity with Unity’s AR Foundation and its evolving API
  • Familiarity with real-time networked experiences
  • Familiarity with optimization strategies for real-time graphics

What we’d like you to do

  • Own and ship experiments and features from the first sketch to implementation
  • Work hands-on with designers and technologists on prototypes, POCs and implementation of cross-platform AR features, editor and UI functionality
